Views of the Dead

What do the dead see? As an archeologist, I sincerely hope they don't see anything. I've worn sweatpants to the lab enough times that if objects could judge me, they would.

Still, it is interesting to explore how funerary material (such as food vessels, occasionally used as cremation urns) were experienced by the individuals who they were made for. Or, at the very least, the experience of the object from its own perspective. Would this be important to people in the past? It's hard to say. Is it interesting to the researcher now? Most definitely!
