Digital Weaving
Illustrating weaving patterns has long been a thorn in the side of archeological illustration. The more accurate you make the image, the harder it is to quickly understand the weaving pattern. The more stylized the image, the more abstracted it becomes - moving away from the material realities of the original object. 3D modeling offers a useful middle ground between these two extremes: showing weaving patterns in a simple way that still maintains the 3D material properties of the original.
